Centro Canalejas Madrid, recognized as the best non-residential property construction at the 17th ASPRIMA-SIMA 2020 awards

November 26, 2020

Centro Canalejas Madrid (CCM) has been awarded as the best non-residential property construction at the 17th ASPRIMA-SIMA 2020 awards, promoted by the Association of Madrid Property Developers (ASPRIMA) and the Madrid Property Exhibition (SIMA). This is one of the most prestigious awards in the sector.

José Antonio Fernández Gallar, OHL CEO, was responsible for receiving the award at a gala that was held at the Madrid College of Civil Engineers. This year’s ASPRIMA-SIMA awards have achieved a new participation record with 72 nominations from 56 companies, 68% more than in 2019 and the highest number since 2013.

The prize awarded to CCM highlights the great urban and technical complexity that characterizes it, as well as its outstanding positive impact on the city, having refurbished a set of buildings with a high heritage and architectural value, adapting it to the most avant-garde European trends. This category is part of the nine best constructions recognized in the property sector by ASPRIMA and Planner Exhibitions.

This new award is in addition to the one awarded last September by the Madrid City Council to the Four Seasons Hotel, as part of the annual City’s Acknowledgement to Madrid’s Tourism, which highlights the good tourism practices in Madrid while underlying the work carried out by OHL in the restoration of the CCM and its conversion into an exclusive and unique space that has served to revitalize the city center as a tourist and commercial destination.

The Macael award also points out the excellence of the work carried out at the CCM. Awarded in the category of National Prize, it highlights the refurbishment and restoration works on the stone elements that are currently displayed in their original place. This award was presented at the 33rd Andalusian Marble Business Association (AEMA) Awards, one of the most important organizations within this sector.

About the Centro Canalejas Madrid (CCM)

Seven historic buildings, most of which are over a hundred years old, two having been listed as heritage of Cultural Interest, provide a unique identity to Centro Canalejas Madrid and the area where it is located – at the crossing of the streets Sevilla and Alcalá, Carrera de San Jerónimo and the Plaza de Canalejas, in Madrid. OHL has carried out its development and refurbishment, turning it into a mixed-use complex that houses the Four Seasons Hotel – the first hotel owned by this chain in the country; 22 Branded Private Residences – the first branded residences in our country, which are pioneers in providing hotel services; a shopping gallery known as Galería Canalejas; a gourmet court, and a parking lot with 400 spaces.
