Ingesan has participated in Waste In Progress 2023, an international reference forum held on April 18, 19 and 20 at the Fira de Girona (Catalonia, Spain), which this year focused on the implementation of new waste collection models with user identification and the challenges faced by municipalities to implement these systems.

In this context, the company has presented some of the innovative projects it is developing, such as those carried out in the regions of El Bages and Pla de l’Estany. These include the installation of containers equipped with identification technology that allows to register how and how much is recycled; and the door-to-door waste collection, which avoids the presence of garbage in the street.

Also, within the framework of this meeting, David del Río, head of Innovation at Ingesan, presented verSAT at the Innovation Lab forum. This is a pioneering R&D&I project in Spain that uses high-resolution satellite images to detect areas for improvement and optimize the management of urban green areas.

The tool also facilitates the creation of an inventory of elements and health characterization for the management of green areas, as well as surface heat maps. It can also generate maps of the location of containers, litter garbage cans and urban furniture with total precision. This platform supports the design and implementation of urban climate mitigation actions and ecosystem indicators.

verSAT is a new example of the commitment that Ingesan is making in favor of the digital transformation of its activity and joins other initiatives applied in the sector of care and maintenance of green areas such as Coordinal, based on GIS technology and focused on the integrated management of parks and landscaped spaces in urban and peri-urban environments. Some of its advantages are the optimization of resources for yield analysis and control of water use efficiency.
