Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes, vice president of OHL, took part in the conference-lunch organised by the New Economy Forum on February 17th. It was within OHL’s traditional collaboration with that forum, to introduce Francesc Antich, President of the Balearic Islands. Some important political and institutional personalities were present at the event.

During his speech, he spoke a bit about the guest and pointed out to the attendees that the highest representative of the Socialist Parliamentary Group of the Balearic Islands has an outstanding history in various aspects of the administration ”both local and insular and regional” and has undertaken different ”basic roles within the socialist party, in which he is currently the general secretary of the PSIBPSOE.”

He explained that under his administration, some important initiatives have begun that are ”orientated towards the citizens and economic growth”. Among those, one that stands out is ”the Social Services Act, a pioneer in Spain; and the Competitiveness, Employment and Social Unity Agreement.”

Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes indicated that in a time of difficulty like the present one, the objective principles of the President of the Balearic Islands are focused on ”reactivating the Balearic economy and generating confidence. He stated that “unemployment is the maximum priority of the government.”

Regarding OHL’s acts in the Balearics, the Group’s vice president added that ”OHL has contributed to the development and growth of the Islands via the construction of significant projects such as the new Mahon Hospital in Menorca and we will continue to make the effort to give our best service to this important Spanish region.”

Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes ended his speech highlighting that ”the Balearic Islands have been and remain a fundamental and basic pillar of Spain and its history and an example of co-inhabitance and integration.”
