OHL awarded new 84 million euros project to renovate the Riverside Drive Viaduct in New York City

July 17, 2018

The OHL Group, through its subsidiary Judlau Contracting, has been awarded a Design Bid Build (DBB) contract by the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) to renovate the Riverside Drive Viaduct over West 158th Street, valued at more than 84 million euros ($100 million). OHL will make improvements to the 78-span viaduct between 153rd Street and 158th Street, including 670 tons of steel repairs/replacements and 20,000 SF of deck replacement.

The viaduct, which is over 100 years-old in some sections, has deteriorated since its last renovation in 1985 and needs a complete overhaul. Judlau will restore the structural integrity of the viaduct with structural steel reinforcements, deck replacement, concrete work, electrical work and painting, while maintaining upper west side Manhattan traffic.

The project will be performed in phases over a 42-month period, while remaining open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

OHL has performed other projects in New York, including the restoration of the Canarsie tunnel, the renovation of the 63rd and 72nd street subway stations, located on New York’s new Second Avenue subway line, the largest expansion of the subway in half a century; or the restoration of the historic Corbin Building.

The OHL Group has been present in the U.S. since 2006. The company is currently operating in nine states: Florida, New York, New Jersey, Texas, California, Illinois, Connecticut, Virginia and Massachusetts – and in the District of Columbia.
