March 30, 2011

OHL has been awarded the Citizenship Award given by the association Citizenship Awards and the Citizens Debate Forum in recognition of their commitment to improving the quality of life through corporate volunteering. This recognition holds particular significance being 2011 the European Year of Volunteering.

Luis Garcia-Linares, General Corporate Manager of OHL, accepted the award from Francisco Fonseca, director of the Spanish representation of the European Commission. Present at the event, which brought together representatives of the OHL Group of Volunteers, was also Victor Jara, president of the association Citizenship Awards. He thanked the companies, organizations and individuals who received the awards for giving meaning to the concept of “citizenship” with actions such as corporate volunteering and promoting principles of solidarity among youth.

In his acceptance speech, the General Corporate Manager of OHL stressed that “this recognition for the Group represents an incentive to continue putting effort and enthusiasm into the scheme, into the values that encourage volunteering: the creation of open space for dialogue and cooperation between the company, its employees and society.”

Luis Garcia-Linares also pointed out that OHL has promoted corporate volunteering since 2005, running significant events in Spain and other countries such as Brazil, Mexico, the U.S.A., Argentina and Chile.
