OHLA is awarded, through its Services division, the management of half of the public health care waste in the Valencian Community

The Services division of the OHLA Group will be one of the companies responsible for the management of hazardous and non-hazardous health care waste, and its subsequent transfer and treatment at a specialized recycling plant in the Valencian Community (Spain). The contract comprises three of the six lots awarded by the Valencian Health Service and will be carried out in a joint venture with Stericycle, a world leader in biosanitary waste management.

The main action contemplated in the contract will be the collection, transfer and treatment of more than 2.3 million kg/year of waste from 17 public health centers, including La Fe Hospital in Valencia and the hospitals of Gandía, Xátiva, Elda, Elche and Torrevieja, among others. In addition to these actions, waste containers will be provided.

This contract expands the portfolio of Ingesan, the main subsidiary of this division, which includes contracts such as the collection of urban waste in 9 districts of Madrid, the installation of intelligent containers for the waste collection system in the region of El Bages (Catalonia) and the maintenance of green areas in Albacete.
