OHL Concesiones in Mexico has been awarded, through OHL Mexico, the contract to finance, build, operate and maintain the Atizapán-Atlacomulco toll road, which becomes the seventh operated by the company in the country.
The concession was awarded by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Mexico with a term of 30 years. The planned investment amounts to €540 million (9.725 billion Mexican pesos).
The toll road will have a length of 74 km, four lanes (two in each direction) and the project includes the construction of several tunnels and viaducts. Located in the state of Mexico, the new infrastructure will significantly improve the connectivity of one of the most important industrial regions of the Metropolitan Area of the Mexico Valley with the Mexico State Capital of Toluca, several cities in the state of Michoacan and the city of Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco.
The award of this concession will allow major synergies with the toll roads managed by OHL Mexico in the country and brings the toll road portfolio of OHL Concesiones in Mexico to seven (three in the State of Mexico, two in Mexico City and two in the states of Puebla, Tlaxcala and Veracruz), with a total network length of 435.3 km.
