Mayakoba received prestigious award as a Socially Responsible Company
June 22, 2017
Mayakoba Resort, represented by OHL in the Riviera Maya, has been awarded with the prestigious ESR Award (Socially Responsible Company) 2017 for the second consecutive year, awarded by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility in Mexico (Ally). This award recognizes the public and voluntary commitment of Mayakoba through the implementation of a socially and economically responsible management that fosters the sustainable development of Mayan communities and the preservation of the environment.
This recognition follows others, such as the Ulysses Award in the category of Innovation in Business, awarded by the World Tourism Organization (OMT), Environmental Certifications by the Tourism Quality by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) and The S distinction awarded by the Federal Secretary of Tourism in coordination with the Rainforest Alliance, which guarantees sustainable practices within the Mexican tourism sector.
Mayakoba’s social commitment is also reflected in programs such as Mayakoba Soccer League, with the promotion and reintegration through sport and the inclusion of public recreational spaces such as the large metropolitan park in Playa del Carmen. This project results from the collaboration between OHL and the municipality of Solidaridad (Quintana Roo) and the regional office of the UN in Mexico. Also, in alliance with the Kiin Beh Foundation, the first educational center in the community of Cristo Rey, located in the municipality of Solidaridad, was created to promote education among children and adolescents in the local area.
Mayakoba is a premier tourist development that incorporates four luxury resorts: Rosewood, Banyan Tree, Fairmont and Andaz. These include the exclusive residential offerings by Mayakoba Residences and the El Camaleón golf course, which has made history by hosting the first PGA Tour event outside the US and Canada. Visitors can await the Ciudad Mayakoba development, comprising housing, commercial and leisure areas. Mayakoba has become a premier destination for tourist from all around the world, becoming a world-class green destination.
