OHL observes World Down Syndrome Day
March 21, 2017
OHL joins in the observance of World Down Syndrome Day. The Group has demonstrated its commitment to the labor market integration of people with Down Syndrome and intellectual disabilities by collaborating for more than ten years with the Madrid Down Syndrome Foundation, through the Stela Project, whose mission is the incorporation of the people in this group into the regular work environment for their full integration into society.
In addition, the OHL Group has been singled out for two years in a row, 2015 and 2016, through the Stela Award granted to OHL Servicios-Ingesan, the head company of the OHL Servicios division specialized in facilities management, in recognition of its commitment to labor market integration.
The actions taken in this context are complemented by the initiatives of OHL Volunteers who, since 2010, have been accompanying the participants from the Madrid Down Syndrome Foundation on the annual Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) pilgrimage. A journey of your own in the two stages prior to arrival at the city of Santiago de Compostela. With these days of shared experiences, the aim is to strengthen the personal autonomy of the participants and to highlight the importance of teamwork.
