OHL sums up more than 190 million euros in hospital construction awards in the first half of 2017
August 7, 2017
In the first half of 2017 the OHL Group has exceeded 190 million euros managed in construction awards in the hospital field, positioning itself as an international reference with a track record of more than 150 new hospitals, close to 100 healthcare centers and more than 200 renovation and rehabilitation projects.
In Spain alone, the OHL Group in 2017 has been awarded the construction of the new Alcañiz Hospital for the Aragon Health Service, worth 47.5 million euros (50% share in a Joint Venture) involving a facility four times larger than the present hospital, in addition to the new Toledo University Hospital, for SESCAM, totaling 201.4 million euros (33% share in a Joint Venture); in this case, there is also a concession for the rebuilding, financing and operation of non-medical services for a period of 30 years.
A particularly significant development is the recent award in Ireland, where the Group is set to build the National Forensic Mental Health Hospital (NFMHS) in Portrane, to the north of Dublin (Ireland), worth more than 120 million euros. This project has been awarded by the Health Service Executive to the Joint Venture formed by OHL (50%) and JJ Rhatigan (50%), an Irish company specialized in unique building construction.
OHL has been operating in the hospital construction sector in the USA since 2008 through its subsidiary OHL Arellano, a specialist in the construction of hospitals and health centers. The Medical Campus Center for Learning, Innovation and Simulation Facility, a Miami Dade College project, stands out in 2017, where OHL was the successful bidder for work worth a total amount of close to 40 million euros.
