October 25, 2016
OHL has won two significant construction contracts in Peru’s mining sector with two of the leading companies in the country, Compañía Minera Antamina and Minera Las Bambas, totaling 85 million euros. In this way, OHL reinforces its presence in this sector, where in the last few years it has been performing significant projects.
Both projects will be performed at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters above sea level, which makes their execution highly complex and involves meeting high standards of safety, quality and environmental protection.
In addition, through its industrial division, the company has been awarded a 23-million-euro project at the Shahuindo Mine (Rio Alto) for the design, supply, construction and start-up of a crushing plant with agglomeration and a semi-continuous heap leaching pad system for treating 36,000 tons per day of gold ore. This project will be performed with equipment of the Sthim, Laron and Atmos brands, owned by OHL Industrial. The work will be carried out in the mining region located 80 km south of Cajamarca and 15 km to the west of the City of Cajabamba.
With these new contracts, OHL is reinforcing its presence in the mining sector in Peru, where the company has also carried out EPC projects, including the design, construction and start-up of an ore conveyance system, as well as the operation and maintenance of the equipment of the Sociedad Minera El Brocal plant, located in Cerro de Pasco, at more than 4,200 meters above sea level, in the Department of Pasco.
The OHL Group has been present in Peru since 1999 and has performed outstanding projects, including the construction and management of the Red Vial 4 Toll Road, which is part of the Pan American Highway North, the main connection by road bordering the Peruvian coast, which has been lengthened to 396 km with the addition to the concession of the 40-km Chimbote bypass; the concession for the construction, operation and maintenance of the new La Molina-Angamos urban toll road in Lima; the rehabilitation and upgrade of sections IV and VII of the Ayacucho-Abancay highway, with a total of 122 km; the rehabilitation and upgrade of the 20-km-long Andahuaylas-Huancabamba section of the Andahuaylas-Pampachiri-Negromayo highway in the south of the country, and the EPC project for the expansion of the processing and storage units of the gas fractionation plant at the Pluspetrol refinery, in Pisco.
