OHL Desarrollos-Mayakoba Volunteers, a new volunteer initiative from the OHL Group

February 3, 2014

On November 21 and 26 of last year, presentations were given to the employees of OHL-Huaribe and OHL-Golf Mayakoba, respectively, with the objective of disseminating its mission and inviting employees and their families to collaborate on different activities intended to improve the quality of life of the local communities near Mayakoba.

OHL Desarrollos-Mayakoba Volunteers began its program in December 2013 with a campaign for collecting new and used toys for children from the community of La Colosio in Playa del Carmen.

The collaboration of OHL Desarrollos-Mayakoba Volunteers with the school Pelopidas de la Salle, in region 33 of Playa del Carmen in Quintana Roo, stands out among other initiatives the group will take on in 2014. Also, the dissemination of the child sponsorship program #donaconconfianza will begin, which aims to provide an integrated and free education to boys and girls with limited resources. Added to this action is economic support for the repair and maintenance of the building that houses the school, managed by the FundaciĆ³n Pelopidas.

Commitment to society

The OHL Group, with a presence in nearly 30 countries on five continents, maintains a strong commitment to all of the communities in which it operates with the objective of boosting their economic and social progress by promoting diverse actions structured through the Group’s Framework for Social Action Plan.

OHL Volunteers started in 2005, after beginning a series of training actions aimed at identifying the interests of the employees of all Group companies in participating in solidarity activities.

After nearly a decade, OHL Volunteers has carried out activities in countries such as Spain, Brazil, Argentina and the USA, and is now adding the new activities being undertaken in Mexico.
