February 7, 2018
OHL Desarrollos-Mayakoba Volunteers organized the First ‘Tennis by Ciudad Mayakoba’ Tournament, held at Playa del Carmen in the State of Quintana Roo (Mexico) from the 19th to the 27th of January. This charity tournament, which attracted the participation of 60 amateur tennis players, raised more than 65,000 Mexican pesos (approximately 2,800 euros) which will be used for refugee support and care programs promoted by the UN Refugee Agency in the country, ACNUR México.
Miguel Castillo, general manager of the Sports Institute of the Municipality of Solidaridad; Kenia Espinoza, Fundraising manager of ACNUR México; and Alfonso López-Bello, OHL Desarrollos-Mayakoba Volunteers coordinator, among others, attended the closing ceremony of the tournament, during which, in addition to the presentation of the contributions raised to ACNUR México, trophies were awarded to the winners of the tournament.
OHL, in line with its commitment to the communities where it operates, created the OHL Desarrollos-Mayakoba Volunteers group in 2014 for the purpose of promoting activities intended to improve the quality of life of the local communities in the vicinity of Mayakoba, in the Municipality of Solidaridad. Since then, the group has carried out over fifty charity initiatives in the fields of education, health, sports, humanitarian aid and protection of the environment, among other areas.
