The OHL Volunteers Group organised the Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid’s first visit to the Espacio Tower

On 15 February, the OHL Volunteers Group took the initiative and organised the first visit to the Espacio Tower space by a group of youth from the Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid’s “initial professional qualification program” ( PCPI).

The aim of the PCPI program is to offer an alternative for young people with intellectual disabilities who have not graduated from Secondary Education, and at the same time gain professional qualifications to facilitate their access to employment. As part of the program, the students participate in tutorials and work placements. With the aim of achieving better workplace integration, program management also organises company visits.

The OHL volunteers wanted to support the initiative launched by the Foundation and organised the meeting in which also giving their support were Daniel Santos, safety manager for the Villar Mir Group; and Joseph Steward, safety manager for the Espacio Tower. Also present at the event were Carmelo Ferrandez, OHL Human Resources manager; Javier Arribas, head of OHL Employment Relations Service; Emilio Rojo Gomez, head of OHL Personnel Management Service and Maria Ruspoli, in charge of Involvement in the Community for OHL.

OHL has been working with Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid for more than five years in the Stella Project, another program whose aim is the incorporation into the workplace of people with disabilities in the company. At present there are two youthsfrom the project working in OHL and Ecolaire, respectively.
