OHL, present at the King of Spain International Journalism Awards

For the seventh year in a row, OHL was present at the 34th King of Spain International Journalism Awards ceremony. The presentation of awards took place on March 27 at the Casa de América, in Madrid, and was hosted by the King of Spain, Felipe VI. OHL was represented by the Chairman of the Group, Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes.
These awards, organized by Agencia EFE and the Spanish International Cooperation Agency since 1983, acknowledge the work of the press, radio, television, photography and digital journalism professionals, as well as specialists in environmental and sustainable development journalism, in the Spanish and Portuguese languages. A total of 196 candidatures from 21 countries were examined by the jury in this year’s competition, in which works originating from Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Spain were examined.
King Felipe defended the position that journalism, “to be considered as such, needs to be governed also by the firm values that represent the truthfulness and rigor, the verification of the information, the professionalism, impartiality and the responsibility which are, definitively, the foundation of the freedom of information”.
The Don Quijote Journalism Prize and the King of Spain Latin American Journalism Award were presented during the same ceremony to the Spanish writer, journalist and academician, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, and to the Hispano-Uruguayan writer, Carmen Posadas, respectively.
Among the public figures present at the event: the Presiding Officer of the Congress of Deputies, Ana Pastor; the Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alfonso Dastis; the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Fernando García Casas; the Chairman of Agencia EFE, José Antonio Vera; the Chairman of the Villar Mir Group, Juan-Miguel Villar Mir; as well as representatives of the world of culture, politics, business and the diplomatic corps.
