June 23, 2015
On 18 June Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, Chairman of the OHL Group, and Javier Fernández López, the first World champion in Spanish ice skating history, held a meeting further to a collaboration agreement signed by OHL and the Spanish Federation for Winter Sports (known by its Spanish acronym, FEDH), in Torre Espacio, the Group’s head office in Madrid. The event also convened Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes, Vice-Chairman of OHL; Miguel Cardenal Carro, State Secretary for Sports and President of the Higher Sports Council (CSD, by its Spanish acronym); and Ana Muñoz Merino, General Sports Manager of the CSD, amongst others.
During the meeting, OHL’s Chairman pointed out that “there is no better Spanish Brand than the representation offered by a national champion like Javier Fernández, who gathers the values inherent to sports: perseverance, sacrifice and self-achievement, all of which are shared by the OHL Group”.
Juan-Miguel Villar Mir took advantage of this event to congratulate the skater for the gold medals won at the CV World Figure Skating Championship, held in Shanghai in March, and for his overall career, which include fourth place in the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, two bronze medals at the World Championships held in London, Canada, in 2013; and Saitama, Japan, in 2014; and three gold medals at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 European Championships, respectively held in Zagreb, Budapest and Stockholm.
OHL and FEDH signed a collaboration agreement in December 2013 in order to promote winter sports, as part of OHL’s sponsorship and patronage activities that pursue cultural, educational, social and economic development initiatives.
