OHL, recognized for the implementation of an innovative procurement management model
November 4, 2016
OHL has been recognized in the framework of The Procurement Diamond awards, which have been granted for the last seven years by the Spanish Association of Procurement, Contracting and Supply Professionals (AERCE, by its Spanish acronym), with the award to Innovation and as runner-up in the category of Processing, for the implementation of an innovative procurement management model in the environment of its construction activity.
Ramón Gil Mataix, OHL’s Procurement & Machinery manager, was entrusted with accepting the award at a ceremony held in Madrid, on the 4th of November, at which companies such as Campofrio Food Group, Bankia, Cortefiel, Ferrovial Servicios, Enagas, Danone, Grupo Siro, Cepsa and Nestlé also received awards in a total of 10 categories.
OHL is the first Spanish company to implement a procurement management model in the construction environment, characterized by the management of categories prioritized on a global level, and which includes the outsourcing of the type-approval, the coordination of business activities, supplier assessment, the financial due diligence for all of the suppliers and their inclusion on sanctions lists, as well as a Corporate Social Responsibility questionnaire. The development of the model has been possible with the support of several procurement upstream internal tools, the Computerized Procurement System (SIC) and C4 (coordinates, schedules and agglutinates the procurement needs of all of the projects), and through the search for solutions for the downstream, with the procure to pay portion of the purchasing. The OHL end of process must be certified to the UNE 15896 Procurement Standard of September 2015.
Through initiatives such as this, AERCE, founded in 1981, seeks to recognize the work of the procurement function and of the institutions that stand out for their support to and development of this function, to be a clear tool of dissemination of best business practice and to promote procurement as a key function in organizations.
