OHL, Potencia Award 2017 in the tunnels and underground works category

OHL has been selected by the Premios Potencia de Maquinaria de Obra Pública e Ingeniería Civil (Potencia Public Works Machinery and Civil Engineering Awards) 2017, in the tunnels and underground works category, for the construction of two 1.1-km- long twin tunnels, under the mouth of the Vistula River, in Gdansk (Poland). With this construction, included in section 4 of the Slovakian Route, OHL became the first Spanish company to build a tunnel under the navigation channel of a river by using a hydroshield tunneling machine with a 12.60 meter excavation diameter.
The award, granted by Potencia magazine —a member of the TPI publishing group—, is set in the framework of the Eleventh Potencia Public Works Machinery and Civil Engineering Awards 2017, which recognizes the contribution by companies in the infrastructure and construction sector that have included innovative and high-quality solutions in their projects.
OHL adds this recognition to the award obtained for the same project in the Seventh Potencia Public Works Machinery and Civil Engineering Awards 2013, in the category of municipal works, for the application of innovative and effective solutions with a lower environmental impact. Also, during the performance of the work, the project was given the first Build Safe award 2012 and 2014, granted by the Regional Labor Inspection of the Polish region of Pomerania.
Luis Ballester, member of the Strategy, Systems and Innovation General Management area was designated to receive the award.
