OHL obtains the OHSAS 18001:2007 certification in Chile
April 23, 2021
At the end of January Aenor conceded the OHSAS 18001:2007 prevention certification to OHL in Chile as a result of the effective implantation and maintenance of a Workplace Risk Prevention Management System for the construction activity of the following types of projects: roads and motorways, earthmoving and perforations (tunnels), bridges and large structures, building projects (hospital construction) and railways (track rehabilitation). This fact makes it clear how committed they are to caring for their greatest asset: their employees.
Chile has become the first delegation of OHL International Construction’s general management to gain this important achievement, in so far as Obrascon Huarte Lain has become the first company certified in OHSAS in construction by AENOR outside Spain.
The certification process began in Madrid with the approval of the Workplace Risk Prevention Management System ( WRPMS), of International Construction’s general management in February 2009, in accordance with the OHSAS 18001:2007 voluntary certification regulations. Once approved, the system was adapted both in terminology and legislation to the Chilean regulations, producing in June 2009, a new WRPMS.
The implementation process culminated six months later with the audit carried out by AENOR, passed without any instances of “non-compliance”. This rewarding result allows us to enter in licitation processes in the mining sector and increase our level in both civil construction and building projects.
