Juan-Miguel Villar Mir Receives the CECOMA Award, 2010, for Work in Business

Juan-Miguel Villar Mir has received the CECOMA Award, 2010, for Work in Business. The Community of Madrid Confederation of Businesspeople in Retail, Self-employed People, and Services (CECOMA), an institution created in 1989, presented him with this award on 9 December as part of the celebration of the IX edition of their Business Awards, a meeting consolidated in the business ambient of the region of Madrid.
The president of the Group received the award for his work as the head of OHL and for “his prolific and prestigious career as a businessman, professor, politician and lawyer”. CECOMA has also recognised the position of OHL as one of the biggest construction and concessions groups in Spain with a hundred years of experience both nationally and internationally.
The award presentation ceremony was held at the Royal Post Office House and was attended by Esperanza Aguirre, the president of the Community of Madrid and Salvador Santos Campano, president of CECOMA.
Personalities like Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza, Javier Gonzalez Ferrari, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Pedro Guillen, Antonio Beteta and Vicente del Bosque were also presented awards, along with the Madrid Association of Businesspeople for Food and Distribution, Firefighters without Borders, and the Special CECOMA Award for the Gran Via centenary.
CECOMA is at present made up of fifty professional associations which encompass 60,000 small and medium sized companies. With these awards they aim to acknowledge the work of model people and institutions that stand out in their fields. On this occasion the prizewinners have been selected for “their outstanding work, their personality, their effort and their invaluable contribution to society”, as described by the organisation.
