January 15, 2015
Manuel Villén, Innovation and Sustainability Manager of OHL Group, has participated in the round table entitled A low-carbon economy and its repercussion on business, the politicians responsible and investors which, as a result of presenting the CDP CEE 100 Climate Change Report 2014, took place in the Polish city of Warsaw.
In his speech, Manuel Villén pointed out that OHL has been collaborating with CDP since 2009, providing information on the Group’s various commitments in relation to climatic change. Thus, he indicated that the effort made in this field has enabled OHL to be present in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), to which a total of ten companies belong. This index acknowledges performance and transparency in disclosing any practice implemented to fight for a low-carbon economy.
Furthermore, OHL’s executive manifested that, for the Group, any climatic change strategy should be linked, amongst other issues, to an efficient use of resources and resilience, and highlighted that OHL is committed to investment in R&D&I in order to promote this efficiency through projects such as OASIS (Spanish acronym for Operation of Safe, Smart and Sustainable Roads); Futuro Solar, developed to improve the competitiveness of thermosolar plants; the Cubipod -a new method to construct sloping dykes; amongst others, and to promote initiatives to reduce emissions, such as the self-generation of solar energy.
Manuel Villén pointed out that the Group’s forthcoming challenges in climatic change matters for 2015 include improved management of the supply chain and progress in the water footprint, following the CDP Water Program guidelines.
