OHL recognized in Chile for their work in the field of occupational health and safety

The Occupational Safety Institute of Chile (IST), the benchmark institute in the industry in this country, has recognized the OHL subsidiary in Chile with an award for the company’s outstanding performance in implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, which allowed the company to go more than one year without any on-the-job accidents.
Enrique Balaguer, general manager of OHL’s subsidiary in Chile, received the award from his counterpart in IST, Gustavo Gonzalez, in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Occupational Safety Institute in Vina del Mar. The General Manager of IST, Gustavo Gonzalez Doorman, congratulated OHL for achieving a record 880,000 hours worked without an accident and called this important record “a benchmark in the construction industry.”
OHSAS 18001:2007
OHL’s subsidiary in Chile was the first international regional department of the Group to certify its preventive management system under OHSAS 18001:2007, a certification achieved with the collaboration and advice of the Occupational Safety Institute. Applying the good experience developed in Chile, the OHL Group is working to implement an integrated management system in other parts of South America where OHL has offices in order to obtain the certification achieved in Chile.
The OHL Group has undertaken significant projects in Chile, including the La Reina Military Hospital, the Santiago Justice Center, the Coquimbo City Hospital, the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) Building and Route 5 (Santiago-Los Vilos section).
