The President of Peru inaugurates tranche IV of the Northern Toll Road
December 7, 2014
On 5 December, the President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, and the Minister of Transportation and Communications, José Gallardo, along with Jaime Crosby, general manager of Autopista del Norte, Pedro Romero, manager of OHL Construcción, and the congressman for the provinces of Lima, Wilder Ruiz Loayza, who attended as a special guest, inaugurated the new split tranche, 76 km long, along the Northern Toll Road, between Pativilca and Huarmey.
The act took place at Km. 253 along the Pan-American Northern Toll Road, known as “La Pérgola”, in reference to the emblematic project developed there by Autopista del Norte. The commissioning of this tranche represents 45% in the progress made in Network No. 4, with 146 km. in split lanes that are currently operating.
The minister José Gallardo highlighted the infrastructure’s relevance for integration and competitiveness of the regional and national market, consolidating a communication axis that will increase commercial activity, reducing costs and transportation time.
The thousands of users that travel each day to the north of the country will drive along a modern and safe two-lane road, from Pativilca to Casma, significantly reducing travelling time and accidentality rates based on headlong collisions. The new split tranche has generated approximately 1,000 local jobs, benefiting the population living in the province of Huarmey. The works to split the lane along tranches I and II are making regular progress and are expected to be completed by 2015.
