The OHL Group, through OHL Volunteers in conjunction with a number of nonprofit entities, has organized two day-long volunteer environmental events that have taken place in Barcelona and Madrid. Close to 100 people have participated in these activities, which are in response to the Group’s commitment to the environment.
In Barcelona, the day-long volunteer environmental event took place as the VI Bosque de las capacidades [6th Forest of Skills], held in Sant Cugat de Sesgarrigues (Barcelona). This activity was carried out with the collaboration of Fundación Más Árboles, a nonprofit organization that promotes a new culture of trees that contributes to achieving a change in attitude in our relationship with our immediate environment; Fundación Adecco, dedicated to the labor market integration of people who, for different reasons, encounter significant difficulties for finding work, and Fundació Badalona Capaç, a nonprofit entity concerned with improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.
This day-long event, which consisted of the planting of trees, has served for furthering the training and employability of people with disabilities, as well as for strengthening the skills and competencies necessary for improving their personal autonomy.
In Madrid, the First Environmental Volunteerism Event of the OHL Group was held at the Parque del Sureste (Madrid), joining forces with the Quality and Environment Service and SEO Bird Life, the Spanish Ornithology Society, a pioneering organization in nature and biodiversity conservation in Spain. On this occasion, the volunteers took part in reforestation and bird banding activities.
