OHL´s commitment to a low-carbon economy

November 30, 2015

The OHL Group, aware of the importance of moving forward towards a low-carbon economy, has been implementing its commitment in energy and climatic change matters since 2007, continuing with the premise of reducing emissions and improving energy management.

The 2011-2015 Guiding Environmental and Energy Plan is the management tool that defines and materializes its achievement of these environmental commitments. Its main fields of action are a low-carbon economy, the water print and ecosystem conservation.

The Group’s strategic lines in the fight against climatic change includes the promotion of RDI as a way to encourage energy efficiency through projects such as OASIS (Operation of Safe, Smart and Sustainable Highways), Futuro Solar (thermosolar plants) or sustainable asphalt mixes.

Furthermore, OHL has alliances and ventures to disseminate its environmental initiatives. As a result, it participates in various platforms and work groups, such as the Spanish Green Growth Group, inspired by the European Green Growth Group, Foro Pro Clima, ENCORD, Conama, Rainforest Alliance and CDP, to name a few.

With respect to CDP and its 2015 CDP Iberia Climatic Change Report, issued in conjunction with PwC and ECODES, OHL has obtained the top score- 100A- in the CDP Climate Change 2015 reference index. This evaluation includes the company in the Climate A List, consisting of 5% of the world’s reference companies in terms of effort and actions to fight climatic change.
