The OHL Group celebrates the V edition of the Prize to the + Innovating Idea

Last 18 May, the OHL Group celebrated the V edition of the Prize to the + Innovating Idea. The act, held at Torre Espacio, the head office of the Group in Madrid, was attended by Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, chairman of the OHL Group; Josep Piqué, CEO and second vice-chairman; Luis García-Linares, general corporate manager; and Manuel Villén, head of Innovation & Sustainability, amongst others.
Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, who presided the ceremony, during his speech referred to OHL Group’s commitment to RDI as a cornerstone for growth, due to its contribution to promote and improve productivity by developing innovating solutions. He also pointed out that in order to guarantee social wellbeing it is essential to increase productivity, “which involves three levers: education, RDI and infrastructure development”.
Based on this policy, OHL has invested more than 85 million euros over the last 15 years, developing more than 150 RDI projects and collaborating with over 90 universities and research centers in nearly 20 countries. Furthermore, the OHL Group has been ranked as one of Europe’s reference companies in R&D investment, according to the EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard 2015, published by the European Commission each year.
Prize to the + Innovating Idea
The OHL Prize to the + Innovating Idea has been awarded to the Netknowledge project, a highly accessible knowledge management tool. In turn, the 1st second prize rewarded the Integrated System to Control Works, Projects and Services (SICOPS), a software system used to plan and control production in the Group’s various projects; the 2nd second prize rewarded two different initiatives with a certain similarity: the Computer System for Studies and Tenders (SIEL), a software application used to manage, request and analyze information, and the Automatic Reading System for Lists of Terms (SALP), an intelligent analysis system for text documents.
