OHL has been awarded in Peru a set of activities to carry out earth movement for Las Bambas mining project, specifically for packages numbers 6 and 9, amounting to approximately 63 Million Euros, not including V.A.T.

One of the main singularities of this project is the fact that is it will probably represent one of the highest air-borne executions carried out by the Group, as work will be performed at more than 4,000 meters above sea level.

The activities carried out will focus, amongst other issues, on the cleaning and clearance of the land, lapping, massive excavations, the transport of material, excavation of ditches and internal paths, reforestation and environmental protection.

Las Bambas is the first project being executed by Xstrata Copper in Peru. It is located 250 kilometers away from the city of Cuzco, between the provinces of Cotabambas and Grau, Departamento de Apurímac, and covers a surface area of 35,000 hectares, including the mining concessions of Chalcobamba, Ferrobamba, Sulfobamba and Charcas.
