December 2, 2010
Ambient, subsidiary of the Group through OHL Meio Ambiente Inima Brasil, has been named Environmental Sanitation Company of the Year 2010, by the magazine Saneamento Ambiental, under the Private Company category.
It is the second year running that the Brazilian subsidiary has received this recognition, placing it among the top companies in the field in its country. The selection was made via the direct votes of the publication’s readers, made up of roughly 15,000 managers and technicians from the sanitation and environmental sectors. The Saneamento Ambiental editorial team proposed the companies and the readers voted for them over the Internet.
Ambient received 680 votes, which was 73.5% of the total of votes cast under the Private Company category. This high percentage is even more valuable when considering the high level of qualification of the magazine’s readers. It demonstrates the recognition that Ambient enjoys in its sector.
It must be noted that Ambient has achieved an amount of 98% in the treatment of waste water in the Brazilian city of Ribeirao Preto. In order to do this the Group invested 139 million Brazilian Reals into the concession, making it one of the few cities in Brazil that treat nearly 100% of their waste water.
