Autopista del Norte included in the best practices guide of Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID)

The concessionaire company Autopista del Norte (Aunor), a subsidiary of OHL Concesiones Perú, has been included in the recent publication of the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) Guide of Best Practices in Environment and Health & Safety Matters as an example of good management in environmental and occupational health matters.

The guide of reference, published on the Bank’s website publications.iadb.org/handle/11319/7409 and addressed to Chinese investors in Latin America- was drawn up by the Environmental Resources Management, an independent consultancy firm based in Washington, which audits Aunor’s environmental and social performance at the request of the borrower bank, which is governed by the Equator Principles and in accordance with applicable national and international regulations.

The report highlights the environmental management plans instrumented through integrated management systems certified in quality, environmental and occupational risk matters in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 international standards. Furthermore, it acknowledges good performance, aligned with best practices in the sector in international terms, in the management of solid and hazardous waste, in sectors both at a works and operating stage.

Finally, it refers to the successful coordination plan instrumented and supervised by Aunor, between the construction and operation companies, given that the constructions works of the second road surface and operation of the existing road were simultaneously developed. In this regard, weekly coordination meetings, articulated plans to provide a joint and simultaneous response in emergency situations, joint activities in community relations and the use of synergies for waste management have resulted in more efficient social and environmental management processes in the project’s development.
