OHL continues to expand its foothold in the United States market by winning new work in the third quarter of 2020, bringing this year’s total awards to date to over $1.1 billion. From California to New York, Illinois to Florida, OHL continues to grow in key geographies and market sectors.
Some of OHL’s project awards in the United States in 2020 include:
- A $368.2 million contract from Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works for design-build services to convert the South Dade TransitWay to a state-of-the-art Bus Rapid Transit line running on 20 miles of exclusive right-of-way.
- A $151.6 million contract from the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, which calls for the reconstruction of roadways, bridges and ramps, mainline pavement, and retaining walls, in addition to relocation of utilities, drainage improvements, and ITS infrastructure. For the same client, OHL North America is performing a $64.3 million contract that encompasses roadway and bridge widening on I-57 and ramp construction on I-294.
- A $65 million contract from the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to design and build the Elmont train station, the first new full-time LIRR station in nearly 50 years. In addition to serving customers visiting the Belmont Park racetrack and the New York Islanders hockey team’s new arena, the Elmont Station will also serve commuters to and from New York City.
- Two contracts totaling $58 million from the California Department of Transportation. The first contract includes installing 15 miles of new concrete median barrier along US 101, a major commuter corridor in Los Angeles County and one of the busiest highways in the United States. The project will enhance motorists’ safety and mobility. The other project features replacing concrete pavement on truck lanes to keep traffic flowing safely on Interstate 15, which runs north-south in San Bernardino County.
- An $8.7 million contract for the renovation and remodeling of the Blue Lagoon Parking Garage in Miami, FL. The project consists of adding a fifth level to the existing four story garage. This new level is a 54,700 SF metal structure and also includes the extension of the staircases and elevator shafts.
- Also in Miami, OHL was awarded a $13.8 million project for the expansion of the Agape Village Health Center. OHL is part of the team to expand the center by increasing the number of patients/clients being served from 1,000 to 2,500. Facilities will include housing cottages, a preschool/early education/daycare center, and a clinic & wellness center. Agape was founded more than three decades ago as a residential treatment facility for women released from correctional facilities.
A dynamic leader in the heavy civil and vertical construction markets, OHL serves some of the largest public works agencies, healthcare systems, and educational institutions, as well as private clients in the United States. The company has successfully completed high-profile highway, bridge, tunnel, rail, environmental, school and hospital projects utilizing innovative delivery methods on or ahead of schedule.
OHL has been operating in the USA market since 2006 via its subsidiaries OHL USA, Inc., OHL Judlau Contracting, Inc., OHL Community Asphalt Corporation, and OHL Building, Inc.
