Centro Canalejas Madrid backs up Spain’s emerging artists through the Plastic Arts Competition
March 9, 2016
Centro Canalejas Madrid has awarded the prizes of the Plastic Arts Competition for the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, arranged by the entity and the Faculty of Fine Arts of Universidad Complutense de Madrid, addressed to Fine Arts students. The 12 winning works will be on permanent exhibition at the hotel, which will be located in Centro Canalejas Madrid. The competition intends to recognize the talent of young and promising Spanish artists.
The winning works include Imaginario, a set of six photographic works by Carmen Alcolea, whose work will be exhibited in the hallways of the Four Seasons Hotel. As regards works exhibited in the hotel rooms, a set of three collage works has been rewarded, entitled Oropéndula, Alcoba dorada and Biombo, by Irene Peña; and a series of three “untitled” graffiti by Lidia García. These works will decorate some of the hotel’s rooms.
This initiative is part of the Centro Canalejas Madrid project, promoted by the OHL Desarrollos division, which seeks to revitalize the city center with a group of seven adjacent buildings, located between Alcalá, Sevilla, Plaza de Canalejas and Carrera de San Jerónimo in Madrid, for residential, hotel and commercial use, thereby transforming Madrid’s historic city center.
