Centro Canalejas Madrid Calls for Submissions for the Second Four Seasons Hotel Madrid Visual Arts Competition
January 20, 2017
Centro Canalejas Madrid, in conjunction with the School of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, has called for submissions for the Second Four Seasons Madrid Hotel Visual Arts Competition, open to students at the School of Fine Arts registered in the 2016-2017 academic year, or participants who were students between 2013 and 2016 in any of the studies offered by that university center, including master’s and doctoral studies. The aim of this initiative is to further and promote the work of young emerging Spanish artists.
Between the 23rd of January and 24th of February, participants will be able to submit up to four proposals within the following categories: photography, graphic arts, works on paper, works in relief and sculpture, each with a cash prize of 1,000 euros. The prize-winning works will become part of the collection of artwork that will decorate areas in the future Four Seasons Hotel, to be located in Centro Canalejas Madrid, a top-quality residential, hotel and shopping project, promoted by OHL Desarrollos in downtown Madrid.
The project includes a group of seven adjacent buildings located between the streets of Calle Alcalá, Calle Sevilla, Plaza de Canalejas and Carrera de San Jerónimo, designed for residential, hotel and commercial uses that is set to transform the center of the city. A highlight of the project is that these buildings stand out for their architectural value and landmark significance, together with their privileged location in the historic city center of Madrid, just a few steps away from the Puerta del Sol square.
