April 25, 2022
OHLA has reached a new milestone in the construction project of the future Américo Vespucio (AVO) urban highway in Chile. Through the Consorcio Constructora Vespucio Oriente (CVO), of which the company is a member, the connection of the districts of La Reina and Huechuraba - Recoleta has been completed, along a 9 km route integrated in AVO, one of the largest urban road infrastructures in Latin America, with an overall progress of 95%.
The works, carried out from the commune of Huechuraba through the 1,413 m long El Salto Viaducto, cross the San Cristobal hill through a 2 km tunnel under the Mapocho River and the Costanera Norte highway. In the Vitacura district, the route runs in a covered trench for 3 km, on two different levels for traffic: north-south at level -1 and south-north at level -2. In Las Condes commune, In the district of Las Condes, the last 2.5 km are also located on two subway levels that end up on the surface in the district of La Reina.
Throughout the entire route, the two levels will be accessible by side branches, with the south-north direction on level -1, which will have seven entrances and exits. The north-south direction, which will be carried out on level -2, will have nine lanes, starting at Viaducto El Salto and ending, on the surface, at Luciérnagas Street.
In addition to the main route, various complementary actions have been carried out in all the districts crossed by the infrastructure, including a skatepark (Huechuraba), the renovation of Los Turistas Avenue (Recoleta) and the Parque Cuauhtémoc pedestrian walkway (Vitacura). In addition, the entire surface route, along Avenida Américo Vespucio, is connected by a bicycle path and landscaping has been improved in order to achieve a space integrated into the urban environment.
