Greenpeace sailboat docks at site 7 in TCVAL
March 4, 2016
Terminal Cerros de Valparaíso (TCVAL) hosted the Rainbow Warrior III in its port facilities, the most iconic of the Greenpeace ships, which through its trips around the world promotes several campaigns for the sustainability of the oceans and the world environment.
During the morning of Thursday, March 2nd, the Greenpeace sailboat docked in site 7 of the TCVAL breakwater, sailing from the port of Coquimbo, where it was visited by more than three thousand people, and will leave for southern Chile during the night of Sunday 5th.
During its stay at TCVAL, it may be visited for free by locals from Thursday to Sunday, in the context of the “Open Boat” program, which allows visitors to get to know its premises and meet crew members from all around the world. In addition, TCVAL and OPVAL workers will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive visit, guided by the sailboat’s crewmen.
TCVAL has worked, together with the national board of this organization, in the port operation and the installation of all necessary security measures to guarantee the safety, at all times, of the people that visit the Rainbow Warrior III during these four days.
The sailboat is composed by a main mast and A-shaped frame sails (which optimizes navigation), has installed capabilities for the biological treatment of waste waters, and includes a central ventilation system, a fuel and oil filling system that prevents leakage, and uses non-contaminating paint for its facade.
