The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment (MAGRAMA, by its Spanish acronym), through the state-owned company Aguas de las Cuencas de España (known by its Spanish acronym, Acuaes) has commissioned a new Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Segovia, executed as a Joint Venture by OHL and GS Inima Environment. The WWTP extension and improvement works will treat the wastewater generated by the town of Segovia, the nearby villages of La Lastrilla and San Cristóbal de Segovia, and the El Cerro and Hontoria industrial estates, enabling the effluents to meet European Union quality standards.
The WWTP extension and remodeling works have entailed an investment of 21.6 million euros, financed by MAGRAMA, through the European Union Cohesion Fund and the Town Council of Segovia.
The new wastewater treatment plant has been designed to treat an average flow of 41,280 m³/day, able to reach up to 4,400 m³/hour and will provide service to an equivalent population of 147,920.
