Josep Piqué, in favor of education and technological revolution as grounds for growth and competitiveness

The OHL Group, through its CEO and Second Vice-Chairman, Josep Piqué, took part in the “Strategy Spain. 12 Strategies to change a country” conference, arranged by the Península Press communication agency, on 17 February, in Madrid. The event, inaugurated by Josep Piqué, gathered many personalities in the Spanish business and political worlds in order to jointly define the main future strategies for growth and greater competitiveness in Spain.
In his opening speech, Josep Piqué referred to innovation, internationalization, the digital economy and education as some of the main topics of the various programmed talks, and insisted on the need to include environmental protection and the fight against climate change into all debates, as unwaivable principles in any improvement and competitiveness plan.
Furthermore, he pointed out that a country’s growth requires the application of a formula based on decent governability, a quality education system and a democratic and progressive future in favor of reaching a consensus. Furthermore, he defined globalization as a “reality that intends to stay”, and has decided to horizontally introduce technological revolution and digitalization in all sectors in order to achieve greater growth.
The CEO and Second Vice-Chairman of the OHL Group also referred to the current political scenario and indicated that a meeting of minds should be encouraged, “exploring possibilities and trusting in a feeling of responsibility”; he insisted that “a country with strong institutions is a much more competitive country”.
