Juan-Miguel Villar Mir awarded the Grand Cross of the Orden de Isabel la Católica

Juan-Miguel Villar Mir has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Orden de Isabel la Católica “In view of his personal merits and circumstances” upon proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Trinidad Jiménez, and after deliberation by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on December 16, 2011, as reflected in Royal Decree 1806/2011 of 16 December.
The Chairman of Grupo Villar Mir holds numerous awards and distinctions. Last February his Majesty King Juan Carlos awarded him the title of Marquis of Villar Mir “for his outstanding and long career in the service of Spain and the Crown.” This recognition was in addition to the award of the Grand Crosses of Civil Merit and Military Merit, and of the Royal and Most Distinguished Order of Carlos III. In addition, in September 2010 he received the insignia of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, the highest-ranking decoration granted in France, for his outstanding work to strengthen ties and trade relations between France and Spain.
