The Chairman of the OHL Group, Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, has participated in two informative breakfast meetings on investment opportunities in Peru and the Philippines, respectively. At these events, held in Madrid, the Chairman referred to the importance of developing infrastructures as a lever to trigger a country’s wellbeing and economic growth, amongst other matters.
Specifically in the informative breakfast meeting held with the Ambassador of the Philippines in Spain, Carlos C. Salinas, the Chairman of the OHL Group highlighted the important historical and cultural links between both countries and stated that “the Philippines should not be viewed as a country with a population of 100 million, but as the window to a market of 600 million people”, referring to the fact that the country belongs to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Juan-Miguel Villar Mir mentioned that the OHL Group, installed in the Philippines since 2013, is considering the possibility of developing several infrastructures, to include a railway project that will link the north and south of most of the country over more than 600 kilometers.
Along these lines, Juan-Miguel Villar Mir stated that the country offers opportunities for infrastructure construction and recalled that the OHL Group is an international reference in railway and hospital construction works.
In turn the Ambassador, Carlos C. Salinas, encouraged Spanish companies to focus on his country in investment terms given that “we need roads, airports, trains, schools and hospitals”. He also added that “the Philippines is Spain’s door to enter Asia”.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the OHL Group, Juan-Miguel Villar Mir, participated in the Foro Iberoamérica Empresarial entitled Peru: Investment opportunities in Lima.
