Metro Ligero Oeste, awarded Europe’s light rail operator of the year

Metro Ligero Oeste has won the award for “European Light Rail Operator of the Year” at the Annual Rail Awards, which recognize the best practices and infrastructures in the European railroad sector.
The company competed in the final against other operators from cities such as Freiburg, Munich, London and Manchester, who were shortlisted in a category that received over 300 entries.
The award was given to OHL Concessions-Project Metro Ligero Oeste during a ceremony held this past Tuesday at the Hotel Westminster Park Plaza in London.
This award recognizes the efforts of the entire Metro Ligero Oeste team and ranks the transport system of the Community of Madrid at the forefront of the European panorama.
This awards ceremony, held every year within the framework of the European Rail Congress, recognizes excellence in 19 categories, including rail, light rail, inter-city train, regional operator, best station, customer service, engineering, sustainability, marketing, safety, technology, and are considered to be the “Oscars” of the railroad industry in Europe.
