Metrorail Orange Line Global Best Project 2013, according to the prestigious ENR magazine

The prestigious Engineering News Record (ENR) magazine has awarded, in its first issue and in the railroad category, The 2013 Global Best Projects award to the Metrorail Orange Line project, thus recognizing the excellence in the design and construction of the rail link that extends the Miami Metrorail to the International Airport of this city of the State of Florida.
Metrorail Orange Line, a project in which OHL has participated, was inaugurated July 28, 2012 and is one of the most important projects in Southern Florida, including the largest budget, likewise, it forms part of an even more ambitious project that seeks to create the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), which is a key infrastructure for the economic development of Southern Florida.
Construction companies with international presence have attended the ENR’s award granting ceremonies. The jury, comprised of independent professionals with a proven track record in the construction field, has evaluated the project in accordance with criteria based on, among other aspects, the benefits for the community, safety, design, innovation and, in a very special way, on the diversity of the work team. In 2012, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the United States, the agency responsible for ensuring compliance with safety and health on the job, awarded the Orange Line project with the prestigious VPP Star Status award, granted for the excellence shown in hazard prevention issues, based on the principle of “zero accidents”.
The Global Best Project awards, which are granted for 20 different categories, recognize some of the construction projects of greatest importance in the fields of education, culture, health and transportation worldwide. The award granting ceremony, which will be held next June 6th and 7th in New York, will take place within the framework of the ENR 2013 Global Construction Summit, a global event that brings together professionals of the construction sector with presence in the international market.
