OHL, a benchmark in Good Corporate Governance
April 23, 2021
OHL maintains its leading position in terms of Good Corporate Governance among large Spanish companies, according to the annual report prepared by the National Stock Market Commission (CNMV) on this topic regarding Ibex 35 companies.
The CNMV document, whose last edition refers to 2012, is based on the review of the annual corporate governance reports that the traded companies are required to publish and disseminate as relevant facts, and which must detail the level of compliance with the recommendations of the Unified Code of Good Governance.
OHL’s position on the cutting edge of Good Governance among the large traded companies is sustained by two objective facts from the CNMV report. First, it is one of the five companies that declare complying with 100% of the recommendations of the Code. The other four are Bankinter, Gamesa, Indra and Red Eléctrica Española.
Second, and as a differentiating element, OHL is the only company that complied with all of the Code’s recommendations from 2009 to 2012. The relevance of OHL’s leadership is greater when the growing compliance with the Code by Ibex 35 companies is taken into account. That means that in 2012, these companies complied with 91.6% of the recommendations, compared to 90.2% in 2011 and 87.8% in 2010. All of the companies on this stock market index declared having complied with over 75% of the recommendations, and 22 of them exceeded 90%. Furthermore, 54% declared having improved their level of compliance with respect to 2011.
