OHL against gender violence
November 25, 2016
OHL is taking part in the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women through a number of campaigns promoted by official organizations such as the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality (MSSSI, by its Spanish acronym) and non-governmental entities such as Fundación Integra, with which the Group has been working since 2002.
For the fourth year in a row, the Group has joined forces with the initiative of the MSSSI which, through the slogan There is a way out of gender violence, conveys the conviction that the eradication of gender violence is possible with the involvement of society as a whole. For this purpose, OHL will distribute badges among its employee that will lend visibility to the company’s commitment to the fight against gender violence.
To this initiative, the Group adds its support to the campaign entitled “In the face of gender violence, you can look the other way. She can’t”, promoted by Fundación Integra and focused on children, the invisible victims of the aggressions in the family environment which are witnessed by them in 63% of cases, according to statistics published by the MSSSI referring to 2015. In this context, Fundación Integra, whose main mission is the social integration of groups at risk of exclusion through their integration into the labor market, reminds us that one of the most effective ways of fighting against domestic violence is by providing victims the tools necessary for achieving independence. These tools are obtained through employment opportunities that will enable them to start a new life.
Participation in the campaign promoted by Fundación Integra is additional to the longstanding commitment acquired by OHL with respect to this entity and others, such as the Spanish Red Cross and Fundación Adecco, as well as the Public Employment Service. By collaborating with them, OHL, through its subsidiary OHL Servicios-Ingesan, has succeeded in recruiting more than 30 women victims of gender violence for its workforce during the first half of 2016.
