OHL arranges two large international R&D&I events

OHL, through its Innovation and Sustainability Management, has organized two international R&D&I events. As a result, Torre Espacio- OHL headoffice- hosted the latest general meeting held by ENCORD (European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development), led by Ger Maas, chairman of the organization and of the European Construction Technological Platform (ECTP). The Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers (Polytechnic University of Madrid) hosted the Second International EurekaBuild2 Brokerage Event, for the supervision of R&D&I projects in the construction and new materials sector.
OHL was the host of the ENCORD general meeting, including Europe’s leading construction companies. At the event various R&D&I and sustainability initiatives were discussed, executed by the platform over the last four months.
Furthermore, a presentation was made of the progress achieved by ENCORD’s working groups, e.g. environmental group, which presented its CO2 Measurement Protocol. Once approved, this protocol will be used as a reference to measure greenhouse gas in the construction sector. Information was also provided about the steps taken by other working groups, focusing on the Virtual Construction Platform, Lean Construction and occupational safety.
Second International EurekaBuild2 Brokerage Event
The Second International EurekaBuild2 Brokerage Event, organized last June by OHL Group’s Innovation and Sustainability Management, gathered 25 speakers and more than 80 persons from ten European countries representing companies, universities and public and private technological research centers.
Manuel Villén, Head of Innovation and Sustainability in the OHL Group, inaugurated the event as chairman of EurekaBuild2 Umbrella. Top personalities of EUREKA’s European office in Brussels also participated in the event, as well as representatives of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and Europe’s top construction companies, leaders in R&D&I. The OHL Group was also represented by Lidia Hipólito de Gregorio, technician belonging to the Innovation and Sustainability Management, and María Montoya, technician belonging to OHL Construction’s Technical Management.
The aim of the EurekaBuild2 Umbrella platform, presided by OHL at its Innovation and Sustainability Management, is to encourage the creation of EUREKA projects, a European cooperation initiative in the research and technological development field, directed at obtaining new products, processes or services for the market.
The Second International EurekaBuild2 Brokerage Event has enabled an exchange and expansion of experience and knowledge, through workshops that presented a total of ten ideas for international cooperation R&D&I projects, as well as an overall view of various funding methods for European projects. As a result and like in previous events, the attendants have included potential partners with an interest in European R&D&I projects.
The EUREKA program is one of the most influential forums in Europe, not only endorsed by the private sector by also by governments of 27 EU countries and other European countries and social-economic neighboring states.
