The contract has been awarded by the mining company Mantos Copper, dedicated to the extraction and commercialization of copper, with a production close to 100 thousand tons of fine copper per year.
The initiative joins others developed by OHL in the country’s mining sector. Highlights include contracts for the development of a copper treatment plant in the Ministro Hales Division; the expansion project of the Tranque Talabre, a tailings dam located in the Chilean city of Calama, or the works achieved in the world’s largest underground copper deposit, the El Teniente mine, among others. In addition, the company has carried out crushing and rhyolite transport work at the Minera Escondida plant near Antofagasta.
In addition to contracts in the mining sector, OHL was recently awarded a new solar PV project valued at 70 million euro in Chile. The contract includes the construction of the solar photovoltaic farm “La Huella” which will have an installed power of 89 megawatts (MW) and will serve the region of Coquimbo, in the north of the country.
