OHL awarded a new road project in Colombia valued at over €27 million

January 11, 2021

OHL has been awarded a project worth 27.6 million euro for the construction of one of the four sections that will make up the future Ciudad de Cali Avenue in Bogotá by the Institute of Urban Development (IDU, by its Spanish acronym) of Colombia. The initiative is part of a global project that includes the development of four sections, with a total budget of 157.7 million euro.

The section executed by OHL will be 1.67 km long, between Villacencio and Manuel Cepeda Vargas Avenues, and is part of the 7.6 km total length of the Ciudad de Cali Avenue. Likewise, among the actions that the company will carry out in the awarded road section are the construction of 8.1 km of mixed lane and 6.6 km of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes, the construction of two stations and 1.77 km of bike path, and various urban development works in an area of 37,647 m2.

The infrastructure to be built by OHL has three phases: the first one, pre-construction; a second phase focused on construction and the third one, which involves the maintenance of the infrastructure for a period of five years.

With this project, OHL reinforces its presence in Colombia, a country where it has been present since 2008 and where it has undertaken other civil works initiatives for IDU, such as the construction of El Rincón Avenue, from Boyacá Avenue to Carrera 91, and the North Highway Bike Path from 80 Street to 144B Street, both in Bogotá. This is in addition to other projects which are currently underway, such as the Quindío road section, which culminates in the Crossing of the Central Andes; the improvement of the Málaga-Los Curos road, in Santander, and the extension of the Cúcuta aqueduct, in the Norte de Santander department.
