OHL celebrates its 105th anniversary
May 15, 2016
Last 15th May was OHL’s 105th birthday, and we would like to celebrate it with everyone who has contributed their talent, commitment and effort over this time to turn OHL into a global concessions and engineering & construction group, whilst always maintaining a firm commitment to the local community, consequently promoting its economic and social progress and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.
OHL was born in 1911 as a port and international company. Since it was incorporated, it has covered each and every field of civil engineering and unique buildings: highways and expressways, hydraulic and maritime works, industrial projects, airport, urban and railway infrastructures, rehabilitation and restoration works, hospitals, tourist complexes, infrastructure maintenance and conservation… they have all marked its history. Furthermore, the Group is a reference in the financing, development and exploitation of transport infrastructures.
During its life, OHL has reinforced its strategy in innovation and sustainability. As a result, it provides innovating solutions, of international prestige, in the development of constructive processes; further to its young technological Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) branch, it has made progress towards cooperative infrastructure-vehicle services. In sustainability matters, of interest is its presence on the FTSE4Good Ibex index, which corroborates its commitment to appropriate policies and management systems in order to carry out its activity under ethical, social and environmental principles.
All of this has been possible thanks to the effort of the human team making up OHL, and the support of its stakeholders. Working as one, we will be able to make the company’s future challenges a reality.
