The OHL Group has been included in the Value creation by Spanish companies. Corporate Social Responsibility in Latin America report, presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Marca España. This publication, which gathers relevant Spanish projects in relation to good governance, transparency, environmental protection and social action for development, aims at providing an overview of CSR projects in Spanish companies that are present in Latin America and their impact on sustainable and equitable development in local communities.
As regards good governance and transparency, the report gathers several initiatives of the OHL Group in Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile, to include courses on human rights and the company’s code of ethics, taught to all workers, as well as its Responsible Purchasing Policy.
Furthermore, other actions are publicized, such as the installation of LED lights for outside lighting in operating toll roads in Peru and Mexico, and in the parking lot of Toluca International Airport (Mexico). Also relevant are environmental management practices applied in the construction of the Chuspiri dam in Peru. The report also reflects the Group’s commitment to fight against climatic change, including projects for the compensation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Mexico and Peru; and the Climatic Change Communication Plan for Latin America, further to OHL’s adhesion to the CDP, to which it is reporting since 2009.
As regards the social actions launched by the Group, of interest is the Foster an indigenous child program launched by OHL México, aimed at promoting social development and consolidating the company’s commitment to children and their schooling, within the area of influence of the road infrastructures under management; and the Viva la Salud program in Peru, to improve the health of transport vehicle drivers. Finally, OHL has included initiatives related to the inclusion and integration of persons with different disabilities and practices to improve occupational safety.
OHL continues to be publicly and voluntarily committed to sustainable development further to its CSR performance. This commitment is part of the Group’s CSR Strategic Plan.
