OHL Industrial demonstrates its strong commitment to international action with the award of a gas fractionation plant in Peru
July 29, 2010
OHL Industrial has been awarded a $125.4 million contract to expand the capacity of the Camisea fields natural gas fractionation plant operated by the Pluspetrol in Pisco, Peru’s leading NGL facilities, scheduled to enter into operation in the second quarter of 2012 with a construction period of 24 months. The plant engineering project will be prepared by Ecolaire, OHL Industrial’s engineering arm which is highly specialised in oil & gas projects.
Specifically, this major award to Industrial OHL encompasses the development of detailed engineering, the supply of equipment and materials, construction and electromechanical assemblies, commissioning, performance testing and training of in Natural Gas Liquids fractionation plant operation.
The enlargement of the Pisco plant will increase the processing capacity by 35,000 barrels per day and includes a new NGL fractionation unit, a topping unit, a new pre-cooling and cooling system, new storage tanks for diesel oil and condensates, a new storage area for raw materials, the expansion of the steam recovery unit and two new turbine generators.
The plant is completed with auxiliary systems for nitrogen, fuel gas, instrument air pressure, hot oil, drainage, and refinery flare.
In addition to the above project, the international expansion and projection of this OHL Group division has contributed to the recent award in Italy of a turnkey contract (EPC) to build, operate and maintain a Solar PV park with an installed capacity of 29 MW for two years. The park will be built in the Puglia region of southeastern Italy and provide electricity to 10,000 people in the area.
Among the domestic activities, OHL Industrial will build three thermal solar power plants in Spain. Two of these plants are for the company Fotowatio and will have a capacity of 50 MW each. The combined budget for both is approximately 600 million euro. The third solar power plant is 30 MW and is truly unique in that it will be the first to use Fresnel technology for commercial operations, rather than the standard parabolic trough technology used by the above two. This plant will be built in Calasparra (Murcia) and the budget totals 50 million euro. Also exclusively in the field of Oil & Gas, OHL Industrial will build a hydrocarbon storage park in Algeciras for the company Alpetrol, with a budget of 130 million euro.
OHL Industrial has become a true benchmark in the execution of large projects with the recent awards as well as the planned participation in projects of other companies of the Villar Mir Group. These projects include the world’s largest silicon (Ferroatlántica in China) and ammonia (Fertiberia in Algeria) production plants, and a regasification plant and two combined cycle power plants by Villar Mir EnergĂa in Huelva.
In its third year of activity within the OHL Group, the subsidiary, with a staff of 300 people, aims to offer its services as contractor in oil & gas, petrochemicals, energy, solids handling and fire protection, both in Spain and abroad.
