OHL Industrial is to Build a Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant in Italy. New Overseas Market for the OHL Group
July 6, 2010
OHL Industrial has been awarded a turnkey project (EPC) in Italy to build a photovoltaic solar plant there with a 29 MW capacity, and then to operate and maintain it for two years.
The plant will be built in Puglia region in the southeast of Italy and will service 10,000 inhabitants in the area. It’s a large-scale project that will have several independent solar fields located in different places.
It’s the technical capacity of OHL Industrial, backed up by the OHL Group, that was a deciding factor in the awarding of the project. They are to lead the project in a JV with a share of 70 %, the remaining 30 % going to the company Proener Renovables.
The contract was awarded by GSF Capital, an investment fund specialised in the photovoltaic sector with investments in Spain, Italy and France, among other countries.
This is OHL Industrial’s first contract outside Spain in the electrical energy sector, with the expectation of being awarded new contracts, both in Europe and Southern and Central America.
The Energy department of OHL Industrial undertakes projects to do with electrical energy generation under the turnkey (EPC) model, being specialised in conventional combined cycle, thermal and cogeneration plants, as well as renewable energies such as biomass, thermosolar plants and photovoltaic plants.
