OHL Industrial, an OHL division specializing in the design, engineering and commissioning of turnkey industrial plants, has received the Mangle Prize for environmental Corporate Social Responsibility, acknowledging its management in the application of environmental policies in the Empalme I combined-cycle plant project in Mexico. This prize, granted by the Mexican waste treatment company Promotora Ambiental, enhances the effort and development of executive, administrative and operative activities used for waste management and to compensate the environmental impact caused during construction of the plant.

The Empalme I combined-cycle plant, located in the municipality of Empalme, in the State of Sonora (Mexico), is being developed as a joint venture consisting of OHL Industrial and Sener. It will run on natural gas, with power of 770 MW, supplying electricity to the north of the country, whose energy demand will grow at an annual rate of 3.6 %, according to forecasts of the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission.
